Harnessing the power of evaluation and synthesis to accelerate achievement of the 2030 Agenda
We are halfway to 2030, the deadline for achieving the SDGs. This is an opportunity to bring together existing evaluative evidence and generate insights on what works, in which contexts, and why. Evaluation synthesis systematically and comprehensively draws on findings from multiple evaluations to build a broader understanding of progress towards the SDGs. It can reveal how and where interventions are making a difference, for whom, as well as the barriers and enabling factors shaping change and innovation.
“We are now ten years into our collective journey toward the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The SDGs are still within reach — but only if we act with urgency, unity and unwavering resolve. Only 35% of SDG targets are on track or making moderate progress.”
The key purpose of the SDG Synthesis Coalition is to generate syntheses organized around five SDG pillars with lessons that can inform action and acceleration of results towards the achievement of the SDGs, by providing evaluative evidence of what worked, how and why in the pursuit of sustainable development.
