The Planet Pillar focuses on five SDGs that highlight the critical role of nature in sustaining human life and reflect the current state of the natural environment: SDG 6 on clean water and sanitation; SDG 12 on responsible consumption and production; SDG 13 on climate action; SDG 14 on life below water; and SDG 15 on life on land.
The Management Group is co-led by UNEP-IEO and GCF-IEU, with participation from UNDP, UNICEF, OIOS, UNV, GEF, SEforALL, and DEval.
A comprehensive scoping review, completed in June 2025, assessed the quantity and nature of available evaluative evidence and identified key thematic priorities for future living syntheses. The review also highlighted that 67% of Planet SDG targets are currently off track.
A topic has been selected for the first synthesis—extreme heat and climate risks, together with DESTINY consortium.
