The Peace Pillar is composed of SDG16, which seeks to ensure a peaceful, just and inclusive existence for all people.
Approximately 23 percent of the world’s population lives in what is classified as a fragile context, including 77 percent of those in extreme poverty.
The Peace Pillar is co-led by the UN Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS), UN Peacebuilding Support Office (PBSO), and UNDP, who are undertaking an initial scoping exercise. It is expected that synthesis work will begin in the third quarter of 2023, with the first results available for the 2024 HLPF and a full report in time for the Summit of the Future (September 2024).
