The Global SDG Synthesis Coalition launched its new Peace Pillar synthesis report:
Preventing violence, saving lives: What works for reducing homicides and conflict-related deaths?
Commissioned by the Peace Pillar Management Group and co-chaired by the UNDP, UNFPA and UNODC Independent Evaluation Offices, the UN Office of Internal Oversight Services, and the UN Peacebuilding Support Office, this report presents the first comprehensive synthesis of evaluative evidence focused specifically on reducing homicides and conflict-related deaths.
Drawing on hundreds of impact, performance and process evaluations, the synthesis explores:
- What works to reduce violence and strengthen governance
- Why and how certain approaches are effective in different contexts
- What barriers constrain impact and sustainability
- Where critical evidence gaps remain
At the launch event, senior leaders and experts discussed how to translate rigorous evidence into policy, programming and investment decisions that support more effective peacebuilding and governance efforts.
