We are pleased to invite you to an ancillary event at the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, organized by the UNODC Independent Evaluation Section, with the support of the UNDP Independent Evaluation Office.
The session will present key findings from the Peace Pillar synthesis:
"Preventing violence, saving lives: What works for reducing homicides and conflict-related deaths?"
Drawing on evidence from 39 impact evaluations and 438 performance and process evaluations from across the United Nations system and bilateral partners, the discussion will explore what works to advance SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) and how evidence can strengthen crime prevention and criminal justice efforts globally.
Participants will hear insights on:
- Global lessons on reducing violence and conflict-related deaths.
- Evidence-informed approaches to crime prevention and justice.
- The role of evaluation and evidence synthesis in policymaking.
- Opportunities for data-driven decision-making and responsible technology use.
