The Peace Pillar is composed of SDG16, which seeks to ensure a peaceful, just and inclusive existence for all people.
Approximately 23 percent of the world’s population lives in what is classified as a fragile context, including 77 percent of those in extreme poverty.
The Peace Pillar is co-chaired by the United Nations Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS), United Nations Peacebuilding Support Office (PBSO), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The first synthesis under this pillar — What Works to Reduce Homicides and Conflict-Related Deaths — has now been published.
