The What Works Climate Solutions (WWCS) Summit 2027 is now accepting abstracts from researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and evidence experts working to advance effective climate action.
Hosted by ASCEND at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, from 13 to 16 April 2027, the Summit will bring together a global community focused on identifying, generating, synthesizing, and using evidence on what works in climate policy and practice.
The call invites submissions that provide rigorous, real-world evidence across seven climate focus areas and four methodological approaches: policy evaluation, evidence synthesis, evidence use, and novel methodology. Contributors may submit work for a 15-minute presentation, an organized 90-minute session, or a poster.
The Summit places a strong emphasis on inclusivity and global participation. Early-career researchers and applicants from low- and lower-middle-income countries are especially encouraged to apply. Travel support opportunities are currently under development.

- Abstract submission deadline: 20 September 2026 (AoE)
- Notification of results: 2 November 2026
How to Submit
Prospective participants are encouraged to:
- Register a profile on the submissions platform.
- Select a presentation format:
- 15-minute talk
- 90-minute organized session
- Poster
- Choose the relevant climate focus area(s) and methodological track(s).
- Prepare an abstract in English of no more than 300 words.
- Submit by 20 September 2026 (AoE).
All submissions will undergo peer review before notification decisions are released on 2 November 2026.
